Das Kranke Tier: Human beings can't run away from problem
By Galuh Riyan Fareza

Das Kranke Tier is a terminology which was introduced by Max Scheller. He was a German philosopher known for his work in phenomenology, ethics, and philosophical anthropology. The terminology represents that human beings seem like sick animal whom always experience problem, restless, and unrest in daily life. Whereas problem it self based on Oxford Living Dictionaries is a matter or situation regarded as unwelcome or harmful and needing to be dealt with and overcome.

As a matter of fact,  we all know that human beings can't run away from problem, as if it becomes their destiny that should be faced and solved. When someone try to run away from problem, surely they can't run away from it. Instead, they will get the next problem. For instance, someone do the assignment, but he doesn't have a book. It forced him to buy a book in Gramedia or Book Store. But the problem here, he is lazy and prefer to keep their money to buy something else. Finally when he gets next assignment, he always borrow books to his friend. He has made difficulty and created next problem for his own self. Not only that, but also it will be troublesome for him and his friend next time. In other word, he has made problem for his self and his friend.  This case known as Homo Homini Lupus that will be discussed in my next writing. Therefore human beings cant run away from problems. They have to solve it as soon as possible if dont want many problems come to them at once.

Commonly, human beings are unrest against their problems which keep coming to them. For instance, college students who always get many assignments or final projects at the end of semester. Those are big problems for them, futhermore they have to focus on final examination, organization, etc. These conditions often make them as though seem like crazy people. Some of them try to choose sleeping, but it doesn't feel good at all because those problems are floating in their mind. Most of them want to avoid it and try to not finish it. Muhtarom my friend indeed ever said "its better for us to go to the campus all day long without assignments rather than we seldom go to the campus but we get a lot of assignments." In fact, they can't run away from those problems. If they try to run away from the problems, they have to be ready getting the next nightmare. This is the law of nature. No excuse, willy nilly they have to finish it as soon as possible.

Conscious or not, problems make us down and restless off and on. But, do  we realize that those problems bring many beneficial things today for human life? See! By the existence of problems in the past or recently, many scientists and researchers did the researches or experiments. And from those researches or experiments, apparently they found many new discoveries in the sectors of science, technology, and others. So that, many human beings feel the convenience and the opulence because of the problems. Today, the impact can be felt until now. For example the existence of lamp, handphone, television, and many others. Its really makes our life become easier than before.

Solving the problems, we need to give our sacrifices such as time, energy, money and others for our own self. Hopefuly, we will get many beneficial things for our future. If not, we will be dissapointed and getting the risk as the recompense and we have to be sincere for it. Some people prefer become silent in the middle of empty circle rather than fight back to their bustle or idleness. Not only that, they often cancel and cancel to finish their problem soon and prefer waiting for unclear time while accompanied with a cup of coffee to finish their problems. Eventually, their problems reach to the top at once the time penalize them. The law of nature is applicable here. That is the more human beings cancer or probably run away from their problem, the more they get many problems. Because aware or not, problems are waiting for us and being around us.

We must be able to distinguish between obligation and problem. Some people said that  college student obligate attending the class more or less twelve meetings, it has been their obligation during becoming college students. According to me, that was not obligation or responsbility for college students. That is problems, p, r, o, b, l, e, m (problem) that should be finished and solved by them. Who said that it is obligation, it means a public tricking. Lets change our mindset soon! In one side, college students have to attend in the class. In other side, they have any bustle, problem or other important agenda outside there which cant be leaved. They are forced to attend in other agenda such as agenda of organization, seminar, watching anime, Korean Drama or others probably up to them. So that it has become problems for college students, not obligation or responsbility anymore. Thats why here, they have to choose which one is the best place to be visited, class, organization, watching Korean Drama or others? And there are so many examples beside it.

We as human beings believe that all humans ever get or experience problems day by day. And the problem it self make us lazy or others. Thats why human being called as Das Kranke Tier. Dont let our problems conquer and drive us, on the contrary we should conquer those problems. Because we have a million of ways to finish it if only we keep thionking to find the way.
